    What is Import Export (IEC) Code ?

    With the increasing competition, everyone wants to grow and expand their  business beyond the limits of the domestic market. Before going global, you need to follow several procedures and laws in place and get different registration and license.

     IEC (Import Export Code) license is one of such prerequisite when you’re thinking of importing or exporting from India. It is a 10-digit code that a business or a person needs to import/export goods/services. This code is issued by DGFT (Director General of Foreign trade), Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India. The validity of this code is for lifetime, that is, there is no need to renew it. This code is generated within 7-8 working days after the documents are submitted and all the corrections required are made. once issued, it is valid for all its division/units/factories/branches.

    When is IEC required?

    1. It is needed by the custom authorities to clear the shipments in the case of any imports.
    2.  It is needed by the bank to transfer the amount in the case of any imports made.
    3. It is needed by the exporter to send the shipments.
    4. It is needed by the exporter who is supposed to receive money in foreign currency and it is transferred directly into his bank account.

    Documents required for Import Export (IEC) Code

    For Sole proprietorship Firm

    1. Color Photograph of Proprietor.
    2. Copy of pan card of the proprietor.
    3. Copy of Aadhar Card/passport/voter id/driving license.
    4. Copy of Rent Agreement or Electricity Bill Copy of the premise.
    5. Sale deed in case business premise is self-owned;
    6. Individual’s cancel cheque copy of current/saving bank account.

    For Partnership firm

    1. Color Photograph of the all Partners.
    2. PAN Card of all Partners.
    3. Copy of PAN card of Firm.
    4. Copy of Passport/Voter’s I-Card /UID (Aadhar Card) /Driving License/ of all Partners.
    5. Copy of Partnership Deed.
    6. Sale deed in case business premise is self-owned; or Rental/Lease Agreement, in case office is rented/ leased; or latest electricity /telephone bill.
    7. Bank Certificate as per ANF 2 A(I)/Cancelled Cheque bearing preprinted name of the applicant entity and A/C No.

    Pvt Ltd /LLP/OPC/ Section 8 Company

    1. Color Photograph of all Directors/partners.
    2. PAN Card of all Directors/partners.
    3. Copy of PAN card of the Company/LLP.
    4. Copy of Passport (first & last page)/Voter’s I-Card /UID (Aadhar Card) /Driving License (any one of these) of the Managing Partner/Director signing the application.
    5. Certificate of incorporation as issued by the ROC.
    6. Sale deed in case business premise is self-owned; or Rental/Lease Agreement, in case office is rented/ leased; or latest electricity or telephone bill.
    7. Bank Certificate as per ANF 2 A(I)/Cancelled Cheque bearing preprinted name of the company and A/C No.

    For Society or Trust

    1. Color Photograph of the signatory applicant/Secretary or Chief Executive.
    2. Copy of Pan card of the signatory applicant/Secretary or Chief Executive.
    3. Copy of PAN card of the applicant entity.
    4. Copy of Passport (first & last page)/Voter’s I-Card /UID (Aadhar Card) /Driving License (any one of these) of the Secretary or Chief Executive/ Managing Trustee signing the application.
    5. Sale deed in case business premise is self-owned; or Rental/Lease Agreement, in case office is rented/ leased; or latest electricity /telephone bill.
    6. Registration Certificate of the Society / Copy of the Trust Deed
    7. Bank Certificate as per ANF 2A(I)/Cancelled Cheque bearing preprinted name of the Registered Society or Trust and A/C No.
